Defect-Oriented: All-Ceramic Inlays & Partial Crowns

Explore Komet’s specialized instruments designed to meet diverse clinical needs.

In modern conservative dentistry, defect-oriented restoration has replaced the outdated "Extension for Prevention" approach. As a result, inlays and partial crowns are gaining popularity, as they help preserve more natural tooth structure compared to full crowns.

Here are the key principles to follow when preparing all-ceramic inlays.

  • Visualisation of molar transition

    1. Round off the transitions

  • Visualisation of molar transition and marker of contour

    2. Check the contour

  • Visualisation of molar transition and fissure of ca. 1,5 mm

    3. Creating the fissure (min. occlusal depth of 1.5mm)

  • Visualisation of molar transition and width of min 2 mm

    4. To avoid fracture of inlay, observe a width of min. 2mm

  • Visualisation of molar transition with marker of oppening angle of 90 grade

    5. Work in diverging manner with opening angle of cavity walls 6°-10°

  • Visualisation of molar transition with surface angle of 6-10 grade

    6. Increase stability: surface angle at the transition should be approx 90°
