Product description

Features

  • Reliable and durable, zirconia remains a challenging material to work with. To meet these new demands, Komet has developed the ZR range, offering five new shapes.

  • High-quality diamond crystals ensure strong abrasion capability.

  • Enhanced longevity thanks to a specific anchoring of the diamond particles.

  • Calibrated diamond distribution ensures controlled, regular abrasion suitable for zirconia without compromising the prosthetic component.

  • Coarse crystals (green–white band): high removal capacity and maximum durability.

  • Medium crystals (blue–white band): optimum removal rate and good surface finish.

  • Fine crystals (red–white band): ideal for smoothing surfaces and reducing the notching effect caused by grinding grooves.

  • Komet 4ZR is a cylinder–round end, coarse grit diamond instrument used for cutting all-ceramic crowns, including zirconium dioxide and lithium disilicate.

Benefits

  • Designed specifically for zirconia, offering controlled, efficient and safe abrasion.

  • Improved longevity through robust diamond anchoring, reducing tool wear.

  • Suitable for all-ceramic crown preparation, ensuring consistent and predictable results.

  • Multiple grit options allow tailored surface adjustment, from high removal to precise smoothing.

  • Provides a high-quality surface finish while minimising the risk of damaging prosthetic materials.

Recommendations for Use

  • Optimal operating speed: 160,000 rpm.

  • Always use a coolant spray when performing adjustments with ZR burs.

  • For a perfect high-gloss finish in just two steps, use ZR polishers:

    1. Pre-polishing (blue),

    2. High-gloss polishing (grey).
The complete protocol (ZR burs + ZR polishers) is available as a kit.

  • When cutting materials prone to “jumping” (e.g., certain non-precious alloys), use the instrument in a turbine with low contact pressure.

  • To fully benefit from the shape and size of the bur, apply the instrument at a 45-degree angle to the crown.

  • Always apply sufficient coolant (at least 50 ml/min).

  • Do not exceed a maximum contact pressure of 2 N.

The Komet ZR range is engineered to meet the growing demands of zirconia processing, offering exceptional abrasion efficiency, extended durability and precise control. With high-quality diamond crystals available in coarse, medium and fine grits, the ZR burs ensure safe, consistent removal and finishing across all-ceramic materials, including zirconium dioxide and lithium disilicate. Combined with Komet’s ZR polishing system, this range provides a complete, reliable solution for shaping, adjusting and finishing zirconia restorations with accuracy and long-term performance.
