Mechanical Preparation
Mechanical preparation of root canals aims not only to remove infected tissue but also to shape the canal with a tapered form, ensuring reliable disinfection and tight obturation. NiTi instruments allow high-quality, consistent results. Komet offers both rotary and reciprocating file systems compatible with modern Endo Motors.
Rotary File System – FQ
Efficient and reliable treatment
The FQ rotary nickel-titanium system is designed for minimally invasive and effective treatment of difficult root canals. Its variably tapered file core, double-S cross section, and pre-bendable files provide excellent flexibility, cutting performance, and reduced heat generation.
Features
- Heat-treated NiTi for higher resistance to cyclic fatigue
- Double-S cross section for optimal cutting and flexibility
- Concise system with a small number of instruments
- Variably tapered core for faster removal of infected tissue
Benefits
- Saves time during treatment
- Reduces risk of ledges and zipping
- Preserves tooth structure
- Provides safe and pleasant handling
Recommended Use
- FQ Opener: shapes canal entry for straight access, including narrow MB2 canals
- FQ Files .04: minimally invasive, ideal for single-cone obturation
- FQ Files .06: effective cleaning, compatible with all obturation types
- FQ Glider: creates a functional glide path, saves time
Studies show FQ files outperform competitors in cutting speed, debris removal, and cyclic fatigue resistance, making them reliable and efficient tools for dental professionals.

Reciprocating File System – Procodile Q
The evolution of flexibility
Procodile Q is the first heat-treated reciprocating file with a variably tapered core. It offers exceptional flexibility and efficient substance removal, even in curved canals.
Features
- Heat-treated for prebendability and high flexibility
- Variably tapered file core for adaptable cutting
- Double-S cross section for effective debris removal
- High resistance to cyclic fatigue (up to 300% higher than competitors)
Benefits
- Safe and durable, reducing risk of file fracture
- Efficient canal preparation, minimizing treatment time
- Adaptable to narrow, medium, and wide canals
Recommended Use
- Prepare canal entry, e.g., with a reciprocating Opener
- Create a glide path with a manual K-file; select Procodile Q according to file size
- Prepare canal with Procodile Q
- Obtain final obturation using matching gutta-percha points
Clinical studies confirm Procodile Q offers superior flexibility, durability, and cutting efficiency compared to WaveOne Gold®, making it safer and faster for endodontic treatment.
